The 3 Letters of Charlie

[Continued From.... Charlie's will]

Lawyer opened Charlie's first letter to read in front of audience. Lawyer spoke “Charlie wanted to apologies to you all for not being with you for rest of your life. He also apologized for hurting anyone of you in any way”. Tears were in every eye. Lawyer continued “He wanted his friends and family to know that he will miss them the most.” Lawyer ended reading the letter, wrapped it and gave it to Charlie’s family.

Once the funeral was over and everyone returned to their home, Charlie’s friend Ron opened his letter to read what was written in it. “Hi Ron, I know I will not be there at your birthday and most of the other important moments of your life and that is why I am giving you the gift that you would like very much. It is my father’s pocket watch that you always wanted. I know you might be wondering that how I came to know about the watch but I don't have any answer to that.”

Charlie’s ex-wife was on her way to home in car but she decided to read the letter on the way itself. The letter said “My love I waited for you for so long that today I am not there with you to share this. I still wished that you could have understood me five years back that I did not cheat on you and there was no woman in my life other than you. May be you are thinking that I am just trying to give you an explanation for my lie. The woman whom you saw with me was the event organizer for the surprise marriage anniversary party and you miss understood me but I don't blame you for that as you loved me and can not see with anyone else.”

She continued reading “You still might be thinking that how can I just let you go if I have not cheated on you, well my love the answer is simple that I loved you so much that I can do anything to see you happy and I knew at that time five years back that you were in pain thinking of I had cheated and if you remember that when we had a quarrel during which you told me that you would be happy if I gave you a divorce. It was all I did for you. Now I am not there but by telling you I just want you to know that I still love you and will continue to do that afterlife”. She had tears in her eyes but she cannot do a thing as there will be no Charlie in her life.

These three posts... The Last Day of Charlie, Charlie's Will and The 3 Letters of Charlie are my personal writing and if by any chance their name corresponds to any real life character then I apologies for that. Before I complete my post let me sum up the message spread all over these three stories-

1- Do something for poor and needy

2- Love you family

3- Care for them who take care of you.

4- Share every thing with your friend except your pain as he is aware of it and the only reason he won't talk about it is because he knows that your pain would increase.

5- Don't wait for too long to ask or share something with your friend as it may get late.

6- Love is build on trust and belief and is like a bridge where these two things are to be maintained by both sides.

7- Love someone like you love your life and let them remain happy at what they love or like the most even though it hurts you.

Charlie's Will

[Continued From.... The Last Day of Charlie]

Charlie laughed and replied “You are still the same, no change whatsoever, still you talk so much”. Samantha giggled and said “ You still remember those days”. “Hmm, I do how can I forget the only best days of my life” said Charlie. “Nevertheless, how are you and your wife” said Samantha. Charlie replied “She left me”. Samantha replied shockingly “Again, you won't change Charlie. Well it was good to talk to you Charlie, I have got some work to do may be we can talk later”. “Hmm, ok sure, just one last thing ..... I love you so Much and I am sorry if I hurt you” replied Charlie. Samantha said “Same here, see you bye”.

Charlie was keeping the phone aside when he felt on the ground. Nurse saw him and panicked and called in the doctor. Doctor hurried and checked Charlie's pulse. Doctor said “Oh my god, there is no pulse”. The rest was confirmed by what doctor meant, Charlie was gone, he was dead. Charlie's family was called in to take the body. After finishing formalities of the hospital the body was handed over to them the next day of Charlie's death.

A funeral ceremony was organised and most of Charlie's friends and relative were called in for it. Charlie's body was buried in ground and then his lawyer asked in to every one to stay behind for Charlie's will reading. Lawyer started reading the clauses in Charlie's will one after another. Lawyer said “Clause one: Charlie left a Gold Pocket watch for his friend Ron as his birthday present. Charlie has also asked me to give this letter to you Mr. Ron and he asked me to tell you to read it alone”.

Lawyer then started reading again from where he had stopped. Lawyer said “Second Clause: Charlie has left behind 1 million dollars for his ex-wife. I would request you to come forward Mrs. Samantha and accept the cheque on his behalf”. Samantha started walked towards the podium in confusion. She stepped towards the Lawyer and asked him “ I think I am not the one for whom Charlie asked you to leave so much of money”. Lawyer replied “Yes sure he did and here is the letter he asked me to give to you”.

Lawyer continued paying attention to Charlie's will. Lawyer spoke “ Third Clause: Charlie has asked to sell his property excluding his home which he asks to be given to his family. Whatever amount of money is collected from selling his property, it should be divided in three halves; one half should be given to the funds of the hospital where he spent his last days. The second half should be given to his family and the third half to be given to his trust for poor. Well that is it from Charlie's will”. Every one got up from their seat but lawyer continued “sorry ladies and gentlemen but can you all please be seated for a while. There is a letter he wanted me to read to you all”.

The Last Day of Charlie

Hi Readers,

Charlie's heart was pumping heavily, he inhaled and exhaled air more quickly than a healthy person. He pressed the alarm button to call in the nurse. Nurse rushed in with a doctor behind her. Doctor shouted impatiently “Quickly give an oxygen mask”. Nurse immediately got one mask and put it over Charlie's face. All were in panic for about half an hour. Once the environment got a little easy and Charlie's breath became normal, he removed his mask and called in the nurse. “Nurse can you please do me a favor" asked Charlie. Nurse replied “Yes sure. What can I do for you?”. Charlie said “Can you please arrange a horse ride for me”. Nurse replied in confusion ”A horse ride ? You are joking right”. “No I am serious” said Charlie. Nurse said “well in that case let me ask from doctor but can you tell me why you need a horse?”.

Charlie paused for a minute thinking of what his father said once “Remember son, you should treat horse as a friend of yours and that way you can ride a horse with confidence”. Charlie responded to nurse “Well its my favorite animal” and laughed. Nurse was confused but she laughed in support. After five minutes nurse said “Charlie I had called doctor and he said the horse ride can be arranged by tomorrow morning”. “Ok that seems fine by me but I need one more favor can you please do that for me” said Charlie. “Yes please tell me” replied nurse. Charlie asked “Can you give me a phone? I need to make some phone calls”. Nurse acted quickly and bought a phone for Charlie and said “It is almost 10 o'clock in the night Charlie, better you have your calls quickly and go to bed soon”. Charlie looked towards her with pain and tears in his eyes, but diverted back to making phone calls.

He made his first call to his friend Ron. Ron picked the phone. Charlie said “Hi Ron, Its me Charlie, long time no talk man. Any how I called you up so late, I am sorry for that but I wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday. So, Now you can go back to sleep”. After Charlie finished his sentence, he cancelled his call without hearing any response from Ron. Ron's wife asked “Who was it? “. Ron replied “It was my friend Charlie, but it seemed he was little confused and seemed in despair”. Ron's wife said “confused and despair?”. Ron told “Yes confused because he said 'we didn't have talk for long time' though we talked a week back and he wished me happy birthday although he knows my birthday is coming after 3 months and after that he cancelled the call without listening what I had to say. May be I will call him tomorrow to know the confusion”.

Charlie dialed his second call to his ex-wife Samantha. Samantha picked up his call “Hi Samantha here. May I know who is this speaking”. “Hi Sam, Its me Charlie”said Charlie. Samantha replied happily “Hi Charlie, how are you? We are talking almost after 5 years after our divorce. How have you been?”.
